As an institution of higher education, research and healthcare, RISE Clinic is committed to being a leader in environmental stewardship, health protection, and safety.  In its mission to create, preserve, teach, and apply knowledge in the service of communities, RISE Clinic is committed to protect and enhance the safety and health of our students, faculty, staff, patients, and visitors and to protect the environment of our clinic and surrounding communities.

To demonstrate this commitment, RISE Clinic shall:

  • Apply an integrated approach to environmental, health and safety performance by utilizing Environmental, Health, & Safety (EHS) Management Systems and best practices;

  • Achieve and maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, institutional and other requirements;

  • Develop and implement EHS policies, processes, and procedures to minimize injuries and illness, reduce the risk of exposure to biological, chemical, radioactive, and other hazardous agents and to minimize any release of such substances;

  • Establish measurable EHS performance goals and objectives to achieve continual improvement of our environmental, health, and safety performance;

  • Integrate EHS management into academic business plans and decision making processes; and

  • Implement reasonable steps to minimize pollution by encouraging conservation of natural resources, implementation of energy efficiency processes and programs, and the reuse and recycling of materials, to minimize waste generation.

Every component of the RISE Clinic community, from departments to single members are a key element and have individual accountability for the successful implementation of these principles and the management system components of this business practice.
